IIT Ropar collaborates with AICTE to train J&K Students

Ropar, Feb 24 (UNI) In yet another step towards empowering the youth beyond its campus and own students, IIT Ropar on Monday joined hands with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in the auspicious presence of Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Ramesh Pokhriyal, ‘Nishank’, for extending internships to 100 meritorious students from Jammu and Kashmir, studying in AICTE approved institutions across the country under Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme.
Under this MoU, IIT Ropar will enroll 100 meritorious students from Jammu and Kashmir, for internship at its own campus. The objective of the MoU is to provide an exposure to the youth from Jammu and Kashmir to the academic culture at National Institute of importance. IIT Ropar is passionate to implement such initiatives passionately.
Underlining the benefits of the Internship programme, Prof Sarit K Das, Director, IIT Ropar said, “At IIT Ropar we strongly prioritize to improve the employability of our graduates and a meaningful internship acts as a launch pad for a student’s dream job where they not only get to practically implement the theories they have learned in their classrooms but also make them informed about the upcoming career choices. It is our social responsibility and concern to provide them alternate career options. Along with preparing them to be employable, it is also important to develop ‘Job creators’ than ‘Jobseekers’. This will help to build capacities of the youth of J&K to give exposure of the world-class research infrastructure available in our Institute. This collaboration will escalate in developing human resources by accelerating the process of economic development and growth of our country.”
