IIT-Bombay professor embark on Gandhi Global Solar Yatra

Ahmedabad, Dec 26 (UNI) In a unique Gandhian initiative to spread awareness about the looming dangers of uncontrolled use of fossil fuel based energy and promote its solar alternative for masses, a well-known energy expert and professor of the department of Energy Science and Engineering at IIT, Bombay, Chetan Singh Solanki on Wednesday embarked on Gandhi Global Solar Yatra from historic Sabarmati Ashram here.
He said that according to various studies the temperature of earth was continuously increasing and if quick and immediate intervention to check it was not done, human being like dinosaurs would also become instinct in just next 100 to 150 years.
Addressing a press conference here, Solanki, who has also devised a cheap solar lamp and a solar energy based movable tea-stall among other things said that there were many misconceptions about the solar energy and one among them was that it was costly.
