IIIT-Hyderabad launches Foundations of AI and ML progs for tech professionals

Hyderabad, Oct 24 (UNI) International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad in association with Talent Sprint has launched Foundations of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) programmes for tech professionals here today.
Speaking after the launch, IIIT Director Prof P J Narayanan said in the wake of the raising demand from the IT industry, the institute has decided to introduce these programmes. The programme duration would be for four months. The classes would be conducted in the weekend days starting from January 2018. The fee structure would be between Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.
He said that the academic curriculum will be prepared by the IIIT-H and Scale up and impart training will be taken care by the TelantSpirit. At present the programmes is meant for only industry professionals, Prof Narayanan said and targeted about 1000 students for the first year.
He said that as one of the largest AI research clusters in the country, the institute was on a rising demand from the industry for AI and ML advisory services, technology prototypes, and capacity building. American research and advisory firm Gartner Inc recently forecasted the creation of 2.3 million jobs in AI, ML and Deep Learning (DL) within the next three years.
In order to strengthen the competitiveness of the Indian IT sector, IIIT-H has embarked on a series of initiatives to disseminate its deep knowledge of AI, ML and DL across the Industry. The 4-month programme on the Foundation of AI and ML was the first such initiative. The hands on teaching approach would enable engineers in industry to build deep ML programming capabilities in their companies, he said.
He said that the programme would be taken up by Dr C S Jawahar, a leading expert in the field of AI and ML. He would be supported through the programme by a team of academicians and industry leaders. Industry professionals may apply for the program by visiting www.talentsprint.com/aiml, he added.
