IGBC gold rating for Vijayawada railway station of south central railway

Hyderabad, Mar 25 (UNI) Vijayawada Railway Station was awarded gold rating by Indian Green Building Council.
Mr R Dhananjayulu, Divisional Railway Manager received Indian Green Building Council’ Gold Rating Shield for Vijayawada Railway Station from Mr Vijaya Sai Meka, Chairman, Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) (Amaravati Chapter) in Divisional Conference hall, Vijayawada on Monday.
The IGBC-CII, with the support of Environment Directorate of Indian Railways has developed the Green Railway Stations Rating system to facilitate adoption of Green Concepts, thereby reducing the adverse environmental impacts due to station operation & amp; maintenance and enhance the overall commuter experience. The rating system helps to address National priorities like water conservation, handling of waste, energy efficiency, reduced used of fossil fuel, lesser dependency on usage of virgin materials and health & well being of occupants.
