IFFK signature film showcases new horizons of Malayalam cinema

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 12 (UNI) The 30th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) presents its signature film, Cinema Metamorphosis, as a visual ode to the transformative power of cinema.
The film captures how cinema awakens imagination and guides viewers from darkness into light.
Produced by Studio Exorsis for IFFK, the film draws inspiration from the natural world — the life cycle of a dragonfly that emerges from shadow into brilliance.
This metaphor mirrors cinema’s journey: from obscurity to revelation, from stillness to motion. IFFK’s iconic Pava silhouette symbolises this light, embodying the festival’s commitment to illuminating stories and nurturing creativity over the past three decades.
The 30-second film was conceptualised and directed by Rebecka Rachan Paul, with creative direction by Suresh Eriyat, and produced by Neelima Eriyat. Music was composed by Nandu Kartha, while sound design was crafted by Dr. Rasool Pookkutty, Chairman of the Film Academy, in collaboration with Vijaykumar.
Animation, clean-up, and colouring were executed by a talented team including Krathik Sunkar, Tanvi Palathingal, Harsh Bhatti, Sakshi Kanth, Soham Samant, Nirvaan Gangoli, Rebecca Rachan Paul, Rajib Mandal, Neilesh Ram S, and others.
Cinema Metamorphosis translates the film’s thematic journey — from shadow to light, from silence to vibrant awakening — into stunning visuals. As the festival unfolds, the signature film promises to add a radiant touch to the celebrations, highlighting IFFK’s ongoing role in shaping the narrative of Malayalam cinema.
