If anyone is offended by Kaliya comment, I apologise: Karnataka minister Zameer

Bengaluru, Nov 12 (UNI) Karnataka Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan, who has come under scrutiny for recently referring to Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy as "Kaliya" (black brother), on Tuesday apologised for his comment but at the same time defended himself, saying the remark was made in a spirit of affection and familiarity.
Speaking to reporters, Zameer explained that the term "Kaliya," along with other words he has used, were part of a longstanding, friendly exchange between him and his colleague.
He clarified that such terms were used as expressions of camaraderie, rather than malice. "I have always used these terms out of affection, not just today," Zameer stated. "He used to call me ‘Kulla’ (dwarf), and I called him ‘Kariyanna’ (Kaliya). If anyone is offended by this, I apologise. What is there to it?"
