I would love to see our industry become cleaner, respectful of women: Rahman

New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) Expressing his opinion on the #MeToo campaign that has gripped the country by storm, Oscar-winning music composer A R Rahman has said that he would love to see the Bollywood industry becoming cleaner and respectful of women.

"Been observing the #MeToo movement. Some of the names have shocked me... both the victims and their perpetrators. I would love to see our industry become cleaner and respectful of women. More power to all the victims coming forward,' Rahman's post on the Twitter read.

"In all my endeavours, my team and I are committed to creating an environment where everyone finds a safe creative space to bring their best, evolve and succeed,' he said.

'Social media offers great freedom for victims to speak up, however, we should be careful in creating a new internet justice system, in case it's misused,' he added.

#MeToo movement has gripped the Indian film industry after actress Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of the sexual harassment.

Actors Nana Patekar, Alok Nath, Rajat Kapoor, filmmakers Vikas Bahl, Sajid Khan, Subhash Ghai, Subhash Kapoor, and politician M J Akbar have faced charges of sexual harrassment ..
