New Delhi, Sep 20 (UNI) Actor Ashish Tyagi who has carved a niche for himself in the entertainment industry with his varied roles in the episodics of Sony TV's 'Crime Patrol' or AltBalaji's webseries 'BOSE Dead/Alive', says he never feels any kind of competition with anyone, but only competes with himself .
In a conversation with UNI, Ashish said he never feels any kind of competition or pressure due to his contemporaries.
"I never feel any kind of competition or pressure from anyone. I only compete with myself. I always try to improve my skills, whatever I am today I try to be the better version of myself tomorrow, so the competition is always with myself," he said.
Ashish, who hails from an Army background, when asked whether it was easy or difficult for him to enter this industry with no godfather, he said, "I always wanted to be an actor right from my childhood. I was very keen to watch films, to read about actors. My father is in paramilitary so there was not any filmy atmosphere in our family, but yeah films always fascinated me. It was difficult initially to find work, to stay in Bombay but I had always that confidence in me that I would survive here."
"I have always been improving my skills. I did theatre, I am very lucky that I got some people who always helped me in improving my skills I should say I got very good teachers in my life who taught me right things that helped me a lot to find work in the industry. I think if you have talent and you know your weak points and you know how to improve those points then you don’t need any godfather," Ashish said.
On whether at any point he regretted his decision of entering this industry, the 28-year-old actor said,"I never regretted my decision as I always knew the reality of this world. Rejection is a part of an actor’s life and I was never scared with rejections. Whenever I got rejection it always helped me and motivated me to work even more harder.
An actor should not think about rejection, rather be ready for it."
Ashish, who has begun his journey with theatre-Kumud Mishra's 'D for Drama' (a theatre group), when asked if he feels the medium is loosing it's essence in today's world, he said,"See everything has its own essence whether it is cinema, television, theatre, or films--they all are mirror of society. I don’t think whatever is portrayed on screens will ever have any impact on theatre. Theatre is entirely a different medium,I have seen many people who have immense love for theatre and I feel that’s the core of such people where that love comes from and it cannot be erased irrespective of what is portrayed on screen."
Ashish who has also done movies like 'Prasthanam', 'Blank' and 'Mardaani 2', says he is a kind of actor who doesn't think about the medium in which he is acting, but always tries to give his best whether it’s television, film or web.
"Yes I agree that the mediums are different but the craft of an actor remains same. An actor always performs but how his craft is used on these platforms is what makes it different on different platforms, and I think all these platforms are director’s medium. An actor is just a puppet who works on his director’s vision,it’s up to him how he uses his craft on any of these mediums," he said.
"My approach is always same irrespective of the medium I am working in. I am director’s actor, whatever he/she wants from me I always try to give them my best," he said.
