I am not even primary member of DMK: MK Alagiri

Sivaganga, Nov 13 (UNI) Eldest son of the late DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi and former Union Minister MK Alagiri on Wednesday said that he is not even a primary member of the party.
Reacting sharply to a query from scribes on the ‘discretionary powers’ vested with his younger brother and party president MK Stalin by DMK General Council recently that would allow him (Stalin) to take any decision on issues related to administration, Alagiri said “I am not even a primary member of the DMK, then why are you asking me (about it).”
Earlier, Alagiri met BJP National Secretary H Raja in his house at Karaikudi and expressed his wishes to the latter’s daughter whose marriage is going to be held this month.
Alagiri, once the DMK’s South Zone Organiser with a powerful political base in Southern districts of Tamil Nadu was expelled from the party by Karunanidhi in 2014 for alleged anti-party activities. Alagiri locked horns with his younger brother Stalin over the control of the party.
He also made a futile attempt last year for rapprochement with his younger brother by announcing that he was ready to work under the leadership of Stalin, if readmitted into the party. He also said neither he nor his son, Dhayanidhi Alagiri, had sought any party post as a condition to join the DMK. But, however the DMK did not respond to his remarks.
