Hydropower: the key to make Arunachal ‘Aatmanirbhar’, says CM Pema Khandu

Itanagar, Dec 5 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday reiterated that hydropower is one of the most potential resources for an Aatmanirbhar (self-reliant) Arunachal Pradesh and the way forward to development.
Joining the joyous celebration of Podi-Barbi festival of the Bokar (Adi) community at Monigong in Shi-Yomi district, Khandu said that the hydropower potential of the state, if utilized sensibly and scientifically, can become the game-changer for a revenue-starved state like Arunachal Pradesh, a statement from the CMO said.
“Yes, we have challenges in terms of difficult terrains and topography. We need to convert these challenges into resources and hydropower is one way of doing it,” he said.

Mizoram excise officials seize about 1 kg raw opium near Myanmar border

Aizawl, Feb 12: In a major crackdown on drug smuggling, officials of the Mizoram Excise & Narcotics Department seized 945 grams of raw opium along the Indo-Myanmar border, a senior government spokesperson said on Wednesday.
The seizure was made on Tuesday evening at a location between Zote village in Champhai district and Bulfek village in Myanmar, department spokesperson Peter Zohmingthanga said.
