Hyderabad rape case: Maliwal starts hunger strike at Jantar Mantar

Hyderabad rape case: Maliwal starts hunger strike at Jantar Mantar

New Delhi, Dec 3 (UNI) Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal, who started her indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar here on Tuesday against the increasing cases of rapes of girls and women across the country, alleged that the Delhi Police is not 'cooperating' with her.
The DCW chief has started her hunger strike despite the police refusal.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, she said,'The police is not allowing us to sit at Jantar Mantar. The police barricaded the entire Jantar Mantar and did not allow tents, mikes and toilets to be installed. They are saying clearly that we will not let you do hunger strike.A woman can't peacefully do hunger strike in the country? Why is central government fearing like this? Is this real democracy?'
'No matter what happens, no matter how much the police and the Center tries, my fast-unto-death will continue. I will not get up until the Center creates such a system for the entire country that the rapist is hanged within six months. I am going to Rajghat first and then directly to Jantar Mantar. Jai Hind,' she tweeted earlier.
