Hyderabad Cyber Crime Unit recovers Rs 21.91 lakhs in Cyber fraud cases

Hyderabad, Jan 25 (UNI) The Hyderabad City Cyber Crime Unit has successfully refunded Rs 21,91,665 to victims of cyber fraud across five cases, demonstrating its commitment to safeguarding citizens from online scams.
The recovered funds provide partial relief to victims who fell prey to schemes involving fake job offers, fraudulent stock trading, and extortion tactics by imposters posing as government agencies, a police statement said on Saturday.
In one case, a 54-year-old man was deceived into transferring Rs 9.96 lakh for a fake job offer in Australia. Following swift action by Cyber Crime officials, Rs 1,51,300 was refunded to his account. Similarly, in another case, a doctor who lost Rs 44 lakh in a stock trading scam managed to recover Rs 4,50,000 due to the team’s efforts. A 31-year-old woman, who cheated of Rs 19.94 lakh through a fraudulent FedEx courier scheme, was refunded Rs 10,10,503.
