HYC gives 30 days ultimatum to Meghalaya government to fight drugs

Shillong, Nov 7 (UNI) The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on Thursday threatened to launch a mass protest march to the State Secretariat if the Meghalaya government failed to comply with their seven-point charter of demands to tackle the rising tide of drug-related-issues within 30 days.
The decision was taken during an anti-drug rally organised by the HYC, a prominent pressure group in Meghalaya, at Mothpran area which was attended by a thousand people.
Initially, the HYC had planned to take out a protest march towards the State Secretariat, but cancelled it after receiving a “written assurance” from Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh to address their concerns on the burgeoning issue.
