Hundred applications received for setting up 20 institutions of eminence

New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) There has been an overwhelming response to the government proposal to set up institutions of eminence, with 100 applications having been received so far for such 20 projects.
The Government had approved the enabling regulatory architecture for setting up / upgrading of 10 public and 10 private Institutions of Eminence so as to enable them to reach amongst top 100 of world institutions ranking.
The selection will be made through challenge method mode by the Empowered Expert Committee constituted for the purpose. The selected 20 institutions shall be named as “Institutions of Eminence” and they will have freedom to choose their own path to become world class institutions.
