Hunar Haat closes ahead of schedule time amid rising COVID cases

New Delhi , Dec 30 ( UNI) In view of surge in covid-19 cases in Delhi, the Ministry of Minority Affairs on Thursday decided to close down the 35th Hunar Haat on December 31, five day prior to the scheduled time which is currently underway at JLN Stadium in New Delhi.
"Keeping in view a large number of people visiting the Huna Haat at JLN Stadium, it has been decided to conclude the 35th “Hunar Haat ' from tomorrow afternoon. This “Hunar Haat ' was scheduled to be concluded on 5th January 2022," said the Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi while addressing a press conference here.

More than 700 artisans, craftsmen from more than 30 States/UTs of the country participated in the 35th “Hunar Haat”, organised with the theme of VocalForLocal and Swadeshi Se Swavlamban.
The Minister said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not only protected the country’s legacy of art and craftsmanship, it has also provided new energy and market and opportunities to indigenous products through this initiative.
"More than 7 lakh 50 thousand artisans, craftsmen and people associated with them have been provided employment and self-employment opportunities through Hunar Haat in the last about six years. More than 50 per cent of them are women artisans," he said.
The Minister said Hunar Haat is the perfect platform for the protection, preservation and promotion of India's heritage and culture and it is moving on the path to meet Prime Minister’s vision of Vocal for local and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
"The Hunar Haat has also proved to be a powerful platform” of 3Vs “Vishwakarma Virasat Ka Vikas" he added.
The 35th Hunnar Haat was inaugurated by Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister of Culture Meenakshi Lekhi in the presence of several other leaders at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium New Delhi on December 23.
