Human Rights body asks Chief Secretary to file report on arsenic water

Patna, Jul 6 (UNI) Bihar Human Rights Commission today asked the state chief secretary to file a status report on trace of arsenic in blood stream of people living in villages of Buxar district.
Taking suo motu cognizance of a newspaper report, BHRC directed the state chief secretary to file the status report before August 26 when the matter is listed next.
The newspaper quoted findings of a team of scientists from Mahavir Cancer Sansthan (MCS) and A N College, Patna as saying that arsenic level in ground water of Tilak Rai ka Hata and Simri villages in Buxar district was 1,929 ppb (parts per billion) beyond permissible limit of 10 ppb.
