HRD Minister and Vizag MP Support illegal event, spoiled spirit of Olympic Day Run: Purushotham

Visakhapatnam, June 23 (UNI) The cleft within Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association (APOA) that were lying sleeping for quite a some time is back in the spotlight with the Olympic Day Run here, as the two Olympic Day Runs (organised by two groups) were held on the beach road in Vizag city on Saturday morning and there was confusion among the participants.
Despite the High Court order that AOPA which is headed by TDP’s MP Galla Jayadev and RK Purushotham to conduct Olympic Day Run on June 23, another group led by JC Pavan Reddy, T Harshvardhan Prasad with the support of some political leaders have organised Olympic Day Run (Illegal Event) on beach road (from Kalimatha temple) in Vizag under the banner of Visakhapatnam District Olympic Association (VDOA) which was not affiliated to Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association( APOA).
Knowing that the event is illegal, District Collector Pravin Kumar and officials of District Sports Authority and SAAP did not take part in the controversial Olympic Day Run organised by Pavan Reddy and VDOA. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Vizag MP, K Haribabu, GVMC Commissioner M Hari Narayanan, Vice-Chairman of VUDA, P Basanth Kumar and a few others took part in the Run and indirectly encouraged the unrecognised event.
