HRD forms 'fact-finding committee' to look into allegations against Manipur Univ VC

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) A three-member 'fact finding committee' has been formed to look into the multiple allegations of administrative and financial irregularities against Manipur University Vice Chancellor Adya Prasad Pandey, said an order issued by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development on Wednesday.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh welcomed the decision of the Centre and thanked HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar for the constitution of the committee, which would be headed by T Nandakumar Singh, former acting Chief Justice of High Court Meghalaya.
The other members of the committee include JK Tripathi, Joint Secretary, University Grants Commission (UGC) and Sarat Singh, Deputy Secretary, Central University Division, MHRD.

Mr Pandey, formerly with the Banaras Hindu University, was appointed the VC of MU in October 2017. MU is the only Central varsity in the north-eastern state and has 86 colleges affiliated with it.
As per an order issued by MHRD Under Secretary Umesh Kumar, 'The committee may, for the purpose, visit the University and its various offices/premises, inspect such documents as it may consider necessary, and take copies thereof, record statement and have discussions with all stakeholders in this regard.'
It also stated that the committee would be free to devise its own procedure for conducting the enquiry.
The Committee shall submit its report within one month.
