HP: Snowfall disrupts vehicular traffic on NH, affects normal life

Shimla, Feb 21(UNI) Vehicular traffic was disrupted on the Hindustan Tibet National Highway on Friday again after fresh spell of snowfall in Kufri and Narkanda in the district as blizzard dust and windstorm affected the normal life too.

Shimla Superintendent of Police Om Pati Jamwal confirmed that in Kufri, Narkanda & Khirki (Chopal) roads were blocked due to fresh snow fall.
He said that Shimla-Jubbal Kotkhai- Rohru road was through but with moderate spell of snow at Kharapather road was highly slippery.
Meanwhile, power, telephone, internet and land line services were off or partly disrupted by the windstorm and thunderstorms in the last 24 hours.
According to the reports, no telephone service was working in Kupvi, Sunni and Jhakri of this district as it was out of order due to inclement weather and rain.
The low line area was lashed by rain accompanied with high speed dust and windstorm which affected the power supply in many places.
State Disaster Management Authority issued alert in wake of inclement weather and avalanche in the snow bound area.
