HP reports 54 fresh COVID cases, 2 deaths in last 24 hrs

Hamirpur (HP), Dec 8 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh has reported fifty-four new Covid-19 cases and two deaths in the last 24 hours, a health department said here on Wednesday.
Two aged people, one each from Hamirpur and Mandi districts succumbed to the Coronavirus and fifty-four new positive cases were found in Himachal Pradesh in the last 24 hours.
A spokesman of the HP Health Department told UNI that ninety-two older cases were also cured as a result the number of active cases in the state came down to 736.
While fifteen new positive cases were reported from Shimla district, their number was thirteen in Kangra, twelve in Una, five in Hamirpur, four in Solan, three in Mandi, and two in Bilaspur.
No case was reported in the districts of Lahaul and Spiti and Sirmaur that have already been declared no corona districts.
Meanwhile, in view of the Corona cases rising in some parts of the state, the Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur had directed the authorities to increase testing of the people for the virus so that no person with the virus was left behind and may cause problems to the people in coming times.
The chief minister during a high-level meeting in Shimla on Wednesday evening decided to enforce strict measures to contain the dreaded virus in wake of the possible third phase of the new virus in the state.

He said that although Himachal Pradesh was still in the first place in corona vaccination from other states of the country, it was not appropriate to consider it safe only by applying vaccination. It is still necessary to strictly follow the rules of Corona.
Jai Ram Thakur said,” This is a form of the corona, so there is no need to panic. But there is a need to be alert. It is still as mandatory to follow the three basic mantras as it was during the first and second wave of Corona”.
He also expressed concern over the growing numbers of children getting infected in the schools. “The government is also seriously considering this matter and in view of the increasing cases, the testing of corona will be increased and travel history will also be monitored so that other people do not get infected”.
