HP Guv urges people to refrain from drugs

Hamirpur (HP), Dec 7 (UNI) While congratulating the people of the Hamirpur district for observing Hamir Utsav, HP Governor, Bandaru Dattatraya urged them to work for making society drug free and educate others about the ill effects of the drugs.

The Governor said this on the concluding day of two days Hamir Utsav here on Saturday. He also went around the exhibition stalls put up on this occasion and evinced keen interest in the items kept there especially by the local artisans and farmers.

He said that it was a matter of pride that Hamirpur was known as the hub of educational activities and was a Veer Bhoomi and its jawans had done a lot for preserving the borders of the nation from intruders by sacrificing their lives from times to time.

The Governor said that such functions unite the people of different areas and keep the old traditions alive. He said that the time had come when 'Old is Gold' saying should be remembered for ever rather than adopting the new foreign based culture.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman of the organizing committee, Harikesh Meena honored the Governor with a cap, a shawl and a memento.
