HP CM pays tribute to Ambedkar on 64th death anniversary

Shimla, Dec 6 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Friday paid rich tribute to the founder of Constitution Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, popularly known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, on his 64th death anniversary.

He offered a floral tribute at his statue at Ambedkar Chowk.

While interacting with the media on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Dr Ambedkar was known as the architect of the Constitution of India and an eminent jurist who laid the foundation of democracy in India and worked continuously for socio-economic equality in the Indian society.

He was also a notable economist, politician and social reformer who worked for the betterment of poor and downtrodden so that they could become integral constituent of development in the society.

He campaigned against social discrimination towards untouchables.

Artistes of the Information and Public Relations Department recited ‘Bhajans’.

Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, MLAs Kishori Lal and Rakesh Singha, Mayor Kusum Sadrate, Deputy Mayor Rakesh Sharma and people from all walks of life also paid their rich tributes to Dr Ambedkar on his death anniversary.
