House Democrats express outrage as Senate lawmakers cut deal with Republicans for ending US govt shutdown

Washington, Nov 11 (UNI) A private conference call among House Democrats on Monday soon erupted into a furious session, as lawmakers expressed intense fury after a group of Senate centrists cut a deal with the Republicans for ending the ongoing shutdown of the US government, reports Axios.
More than a dozen lawmakers spoke during the call, with most vehemently condemning the agreement, viewing it as tantamount to capitulation.
Rep Melanie Stansbury (D–N.M.) said that the public was incensed with the Democrats' willingness towards making compromises with the GOP, viewing it as a surrender amid the shutdown standoff.
