Home Stay operators trained in SOPs to host tourists during COVID

Gangtok, Oct 23 (UNI) Home Stay Association of Sikkim, led by Jigme Dorjee Bhutia, hosted a workshop in association with Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, here today.
Chief Guest, Lukendra Rasaily, Chairman Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation, stressed creation of only one brand, the Brand Sikkim. He also urged the Home Stay operators to focus on Sikkim Village Tourism, instead of various bifurcations. "We have to shape Village Tourism. It should include Orchid Tours, Hiking, Bird & Butterfly watching. Diversity of demography is advantageous here, variety of culture could be projected," said L Rasaily.
He warned them against leasing out Home Stays ,as in that case they would not be able to present their culture to the Guests visiting Sikkim. "Run your Home Stays yourself .Leasing out would hamper employment generation too. Don't let work culture be poor as it is today. Sikkim has been experiencing change since last one year and a few months. You are creating entrepreneurs hub. This has reduced suicide rate in Sikkim. As the frustration has been decreasing. Let your Young ones go for Guide Training or Skill development in any other Tourism-related subject. Do maintain quality and standard."
