Home guard duty scam in UP : 7 police stations found with irregularities

Lucknow, Nov 13(UNI) Uttar Pradesh police on Wednesday ordered a high level probe after financial scam was detected in giving duty to the Homeguards in Gautam Buddha Nagar district.
DGP O P Singh said here that a three-member committee has been set up and the probe was ordered in the entire state.
Principal secretary of Homeguard department, Anil Kumar said here that probe would be ordered if found such irregularities in other districts too.
The committee sent to Noida including Senior Staff Officer of DG Homeguard Sunil Kumar, District commandant of Mirzapur Shailendra Pratap Singh and district commandant of Baghpat Neeta Bharati.
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gautam Buddha Nagar Vaibhav Krishna said that a Home Guard Platoon Commander had appeared before him submitting an application that there were some discrepancies in assigning duties to the Home Guard jawans and fraudulence in the drawing of salaries.
"Records of seven police station limits for May-June were checked. It was found that 50 per cent of the salary drawn for the two months was done on basis of fake records. The amount siphoned off was around Rs eight lakhs," the SSP said.
