Hockey: Indian eves lose 1-2 to Japan

Darwin, Jun 4 (UNI) Continuing their lacklustre performance, Indian eves lost 2-1 to Japan in the Bronze medal play-off match on the concluding day of the four nations tournament here today.
India started the game off brightly, pushing Japan onto the back foot immediately, and penetrated the Japanese circle several times in the first five minutes. Japan rallied back though and slowly got control of the possession, as India dropped back to a more defensively compact game-plan.
In the first real chance of the game though, Japan, attacking through a long cross field drive, were denied by a brilliant diving save from Savita in goal. The first quarter ended scoreless.
