HK media tycoon Jimmy Lai convicted for Tiananmen vigil last year

Hong Kong, Dec 9 (UNI) Hong Kong media tycoon Jimmy Lai along with two other activists were convicted on Thursday for taking part in an unlawful assembly, which was held in June last year to commemorate the 1989 Tiananmen massacre.

Lai, Gwyneth Ho and Chow Hang Tung were among the large number of people who decried a ban and participated in a vigil held last June.

This comes even as seven Indian crew members continue to be in the captivity of Houthi rebels who seized a UAE-flagged ship on January 2 in the Red Sea.
