Hindu outfit presses for strong ‘anti-love jihad’ law in Maharashtra

Nagpur, Dec 10 (UNI) The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), a right-wing organisation, on Wednesday called on the Maharashtra government to enact a stringent law targeting what it refers to as “love jihad” during the ongoing winter session of the state legislature in Nagpur.
The phrase “love jihad” is used by some right-wing groups to allege that Muslim men pursue relationships with Hindu women for the purpose of converting them to Islam.
The HJS stated that it recently carried out a statewide campaign in collaboration with more than 160 Hindu organisations across 20 districts.
