Hindu God idols desecrated in AP town

Kakinada, Jan 21 (UNI) The idols of Hindu Gods including Lord Ganesh, Hanuman in the Bhjarang temple located in an open shed in Suravarapu street in Agraharam and also idols installed in open space along the roadside in nearby areas on the outskirts of Pithapuram town 26 kms from here were desecrated disfiguring them by some miscreants in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The locals who noticed this in the morning have lodged a complaint to the police who swung into action and made some inquiries in an around the area.
The miscreants had used a hammer to disfigure the cement idols.
The Pithapuram Circle Inspector Surya Apparao told media persons that idols at six places in the same locality were desecrated in the similar fashion. Flexes of YSRCP leaders installed near the temple were also found torn into pieces.
Three special teams were constituted to nab the culprits. The CC camera footage was being examined to find out the clues.
A case was registered and being investigated, he said.
