Panaji, Apr 3 (UNI) Assam Minister for Finance, Health and Education Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma was elected unopposed President of Badminton Association of India (BAI) at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at a star hotel at Calangute in North Goa on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Dr Sarma said, 'Today we had Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Badminton Association of India. Everybody got elected unopposed. There was a contest only for the post of General Secretary between K K Sharma and Ajay Singhania. But after due deliberations Mr Sharma withdrew his candidature voluteerily. As a result post General Sectretary was also elected unopposed. I will continue to be the president of BAI.'
Mr Sarma said while Devender Singh would continue to be Senior Vice President, Member of Parliament Dr Anbumani Ramadoss will be new treasurer of the BAI.
