Himal Gusain fishes 2nd in Adra Fide Open

Chandigarh, Mar 21 (UNI) Himal Gusain of Chandigarh secured second position in the ‘2nd Adra Fide Open International Rating Chess Tournament’ held at Adra. He scored 7.5 points out of 9 games.
International Master M S Thejkumar became the champion with the same points as Himal but declared winner on better tie-break score. There were 221 players participating from all over India, which includes three Grandmasters and 12 International Masters and several other titled and rated players. The total prize money was 6 Lakh in this tournament where Himal got 2nd prize of Rs.100,000.
Himal won six games, drew 3 and remained unbeaten. Himal Gusain also increased 11 rating points and now will have rating 2429. In the last round he drew his game against International Master Himanshu Sharma of Railways. He also defeated top seed Diptayan Ghosh of West Bengal in the penultimate round.
