Himachal to roll out 'Nutrition Policy' to strengthen public health outcomes

Shimla, Jan 21 (UNI) Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, while chairing a meeting of the Health department here today, said that the state government would formulate Himachal Pradesh’s first-ever Nutrition Policy to ensure comprehensive and long-term benefits for the people.
He stated that the government was already implementing several nutrition and food security programmes, including the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), the Mid-Day Meal Scheme and the Public Distribution System (PDS).
The Chief Minister emphasised that, in view of these initiatives, nutritional profiling was of critical importance. He said this would help create awareness among citizens about essential nutrients, caloric values and food fortification standards, thereby promoting informed dietary choices and better public health outcomes.
