Himachal records 60,800 MT fish production worth Rs 972 crore in three years

Shimla, June 7 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh recorded fish production of 60,799.66 metric tonnes worth Rs 972.46 crore during the last three years, reflecting steady growth in the state's fisheries sector, a government spokesperson said on Sunday.
According to official data for the period from January 2023 to March 2026, annual fish production increased from 17,721.64 metric tonnes in 2023-24 to 20,005.97 metric tonnes in 2025-26.
The spokesperson said the sector generated 1,553 employment opportunities during the period through various fisheries development schemes and the adoption of modern aquaculture technologies, including biofloc farming, recirculatory aquaculture systems (RAS), pond-based fish farming and trout culture.
