Himachal govt fulfils Budget promise, grants full salary during study leave

Shimla, June 11 (UNI): The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to provide full salary to employees proceeding on study leave for pursuing higher education during their service period, amending the existing provisions to make the benefit more employee-friendly.
Under the revised rules, employees availing study leave will now be entitled to receive 100 per cent salary during the period of higher studies. Earlier, they were eligible for only 40 per cent of the pay drawn before proceeding on leave, along with Dearness Allowance (DA) and House Rent Allowance (HRA).
The state government has amended Rule 56 of the CCS (Leave) Rules, 1972, in this regard. The decision fulfills an announcement made by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in the Budget for the financial year 2026-27.
