Himachal: 16.21 pc polling till 1100 hrs

Shimla, May 19(UNI) An estimated 16.21 per cent of the 53,30154 electorate cast their votes till 1100 hrs on Sunday in four Parliamentary constituencies of Himachal.
Kangra PC recorded 17.54 pc, Mandi--13.80 pc, Hamirpur-- 15.57 pc and Shimla-- PC 17.86 pc.
No untoward incident was reported from the state with the polling progressing peacefully.
According to a senior officer of Election Commission, 7,730 polling booths have been set up to decide the fate of 45 candidates for first and last leg of the polls in the hill state.
Talking to UNI, Chief Electoral Officer Mr Devesh Kumar said as many as 25,000 security personnel and about 46,000 polling staff are engaged in conducting the polls.
As many as 10049 EVMs and VVPAT are being used for the poll which would conclude till 1800 hrs.
A total of 1,52,390 electorate are first timers.
Of the 53, 30154 voters, 27,24,111 are male and 26,05996 female and 47 third gender.
Hamirpur PC has 13,62,269 voters which include 6,91,683 male and 670,579 female and seven third genders.
Mandi, which is second largest geographical parliamentary constituency in India after Barmer-Jaisalmer and Ladakha, has 12,81,462 voters, including 6,50,796 male and 6,30 661 female and five transgenders.
Shimla has a total 12,59,085 voters, including 6,54,248 male and 6, 04,822 female and 15 transgenders.
Mandi, Lahaul Spiti and Hamirpur Assembly segments have more of female voters as against every 1000 men there are 1042 women in Hamirpur and 1009 in Lahaul Spiti and Mandi.
