Highway Bandh passed off peacefully in Karnataka

Bangaluru, Sep 25 (UNI) Blockade of national and state highway by farmers in protest against amendments to APMC and Land Reforms Acts passed by the Parliament passed off peacefully in Karnataka on Friday.
Police sources told UNI that no untoward incident was reported anywhere. In many places agitating farmer leaders were taken into custody as precautionary measures and released later. Members of more than 30 Farmers Associations had participated in the agitation.
Farmers supported by members of various Opposition parties that took to the streets to register their protest against the farm bills in various districts of northern Karnataka. Vehicular movement was disrupted for several hours in many districts with agitators setting roadblocks.
