Higher education and technical institutes should be developed as world standard: Pranab

Patna, Jan 20 (UNI) Former President Pranab Mukherjee today called for developing
higher education and technical institutes in the country as per world standard so that
students could get quality education.
Mr Mukherjee, while addressing the convocation of Patna University organised here,
said that education played important role in shaping the career of students and also in
development of the country.
It had become all the more important to provide quality education to students of the
country in fast changing scenario across the globe, he noted.
"All higher education and technical institutes should be developed as per world
standard so that students could get quality education", Mr Mukherjee said adding
that higher education should be linked with skill development and employment
generation.
Higher education institutes should be made well equipped with latest technology to
ensure its benefits to students, he added.
Former President said it was satisfactory to note that Bihar was developing with
accelerated pace. The growth rate of Bihar was higher than national average, he
further said adding that the state had rich history of quality education and institutes
par excellence.
Nalanda University was known for quality education in ancient period, he recalled.
