Heavy rains bring relief to UP as Monsoon deficit widens to 17%, Orange alert for several districts

Lucknow, July 11 (UNI) Widespread monsoon rains lashed Uttar Pradesh, leading to a fall of up to four degrees Celsius in temperatures and prompting weather alerts across several districts.
The Regional Meteorological Centre has warned of extremely heavy rainfall in parts of the state, even as cumulative monsoon rainfall remains 17 percent below normal.
The actual rainfall recorded is 140.9 mm, whereas the normal average is 169.4 mm, marking a 17 percent deficit. Eastern Uttar Pradesh has received only 113.5 mm of rain against the normal average of 187.7 mm, indicating a 40 percent shortfall.
