Heavy rain in HP pushes educational institutions to remain shut

Shimla, Aug 18 (UNI) All the educational institutions in Shimla, Bilaspur and Sirmaur will remain closed on Monday as a precautionary measure owing to heavy rainfall in past 24 hrs, Shimla Deputy Commissioner said on Sunday.
"Following heavy rainfall in the intervening night of Aug 17 and 18, various roads have been closed due to landslides," Deputy Commissioner Amit Kashyap said.
"In view of heavy rain and blockage and damage caused to roads it has become necessary to order closure of all education institutions including government, private and convent schools, colleges, universities, ITIs, poltechnics and anganwari centers in Shimla district for safety of children as well as in the public interest," Mr Kashyap said.
