Heavy rain alert sounded in MP

Bhopal, Aug 25 (UNI) The India Meteorological Department has issued an ‘intense precipitation’ alert – effective for the next 24 hours – in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Mandsaur, Sehore, Raisen, Harda, Betul and Hoshangabad districts.
The state capital witnessed the second consecutive day of incessant rainfall on Sunday – the figure being approximately four inches in a span of 48 hours. The city received 1,201.2 mm rain this season, which is a whopping 386 mm above normal.
