Panaji, Mar 4 (UNI) Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat on Thursday said that State Election Comission (SEC) should wait for the final verdict of the Supreme Court on High Court order regarding reservation of wards in five municipalities.
In a statement, he said,'As the Hon'ble Supreme Court has given interim stay on High Court Order regarding Reservation of Wards in five Municipalities and kept consequent notification of State Election Commission on cancelling Municipal Elections in the said five municipalities in abeyance, I demand that State Election Commission must wait till final disposal of the matter by the Apex Court and should not act in haste under any pressure.'
'The judiciary is an important pillar of democracy and it is important for the statutory body like State Election Commission to wait for the final verdict from the Court on important matter like holding elections of local self bodies,' he said.
