New Delhi, Sep 24 (UNI) Lauding the rollout of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, health professionals said they welcome this initiative by the Government as it will bring revolutionary change to healthcare in India.
On Ayushman Bharat, Dr Preetha Reddy, Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals, "Never before have we seen a scheme of such ambitious scale, the first phase of which targets health cover for over 50 crore individuals. We look forward to support the Government in this endeavour as the scheme rolls out with the promise of giving succour to millions of patients who would otherwise not have been able to afford or access the treatment required."
PMJAY, which envisions health assurance of Rs 5 lakh per family per year, will benefit over 50 crore people, and is the world's biggest health assurance scheme.
