HC revokes dismissal of 29 cops in Hooch tragedy case

Patna, Jan 15 (UNI) Patna High Court on Friday revoked the dismissal of 29 policemen in Hooch tragedy case of Gopalganj that had claimed lives of 16 people in August, 2016.
A single bench of Chakradhari Sharan Singh, while hearing writ petitions challenging the dismissal of 29 crops, quashed the dismissal order of the Director General of Police (DGP), observing that the order was based on assumption that erring cops were aware of illegal manufacturing of liquor and its sale, as the site was just two km away from police station.
Such order based on assumption was illegal as it was not proved on the basis of facts and evidence, the bench noted.
