HC orders HPPCL to pay land compensation

Shimla, Jul 30 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh High Court on Tuesday slammed Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited for not paying an enhanced land compensation to a petitioner to the tune of Rs 48 lakh rupees.
A Bench constituted by Justice Mr Tarlok Singh Chauhan directed to release Rs 48 lakh to a petitioner Sat Dev Singh who had challenged the HPPCL, a PSU (Public Sector Unit), in the court for acquiring his land for Shri Renuka Dam Project in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh in 2009.
Court also slapped Rs one Lakh penalty to the HPPCL out of which Rs 50,000 to be paid to the petitioner and rest to the Red Cross Society by August 31.
