HC issues notice to BJP-led Govt seeking reply on measures taken to tackle drought in Maharashtra

Nanded, Feb 5 (UNI) A bench of the Bombay high court at Aurangabad has issued a notice to the BJP-led central and state governments seeking a detailed information on the measures taken by the governments to tackle drought-like condition in Maharashtra.
A bench of Justices R S Borde and A I S Cheema gave the direction to issue notices to both the central and state governments after hearing a writ petition filed by the president of the Nationalist Kisan Sabha and former MLA Shankar Anna Dhondge from Nanded district of the scarcity-hit Marathwada region.
During the hearing yesterday, the bench asked the governments to give explanation on the matter mentioned in the petition. The petitioner stated that due to non-application of remedies to tackle the drought in the state, the fundamental right to live enshrined in Section 21 and Section 39 of the Constitution was being violated.
