Haryana police register 269 NDPS cases, 439 nabbed in Sirsa

Chandigarh, Nov 14 (UNI) Haryana Police have registered 269 cases and arrested 439 people under NDPS Act in Sirsa alone under a special drive against drug peddlers during past six and half months period.
Besides, large quantity of narcotics including 4.542 kg heroin, 16.437 kg opium, 28.730 kg ganja, over 2221 kg chura post and doda post and around 3.5 lakh restricted pills, injections and capsules were seized from the possession of arrested accused during this period, a police department spokesman said here on Wednesday.
He said that following the directives of Director General of Police B S Sandhu, a crackdown on drug-peddlers was being conducted on daily basis in the district specially in the bordering areas with Rajasthan and Punjab. People also supplementing the efforts of the police, as a result of which the Marathon (Run for Unity) held on October 31 in the district has been very successful.
