Haryana: Police bust Telegram Task scam link, arrest 2

Panchkula, Jul 19 (UNI) Haryana Police has arrested two men for allegedly providing a bank account that was used to siphon off Rs ₹2.11 lakh from a victim in a Telegram-based online task fraud, exposing another link in the growing network of cyber criminals using rented bank accounts to launder fraudulent proceeds.
According to a Haryana Police spokesperson, the arrests were made by the Cyber Crime Police Station (South), Gurugram, during an investigation into a cyber fraud case registered on March 20, 2026.
The spokesperson said the complainant reported that he was first contacted through Facebook and later added to a Telegram channel, where fraudsters promised attractive commissions for completing online tasks. Believing the claims, the victim transferred money to multiple UPI IDs and bank accounts, eventually losing ₹2.11 lakh.
