New Delhi, Oct 20 (UNI) The stage is set for elections on Monday for Haryana and Maharashtra Assemblies, besides bypolls to 51 Assembly constituencies across 15 states and one Lok Sabha seat apiece in Maharashtra and Bihar.
The fate of 1,168 candidates from 90 Assembly constituencies in Haryana will be sealed in 19,578 polling stations across the state in voting, which will commence at 0700 hrs and continue till 1800 hrs.
Tight security arrangements have been made and over 75,000 security personnel mobilised for the Haryana polls, where over 1.83 crore voters, including 85 lakh women and 252 transgenders.
In Haryana, the main contest is seen among the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, Indian National Congress and the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP). Currently, BJP has 48 MLAs in the 90-member House.
Besides, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Swaraj India, Loktantra Suraksha Party (LSP) and Shiromani Akali Dal will also test waters in the polls.
As many as 36 candidates will battle it out in Ambala district, while 58 nominees will contest from Jhajjar, 44 in Kurukshetra, 57 in Kaithal, 66 in Sirsa, 118 in Hisar, 46 in Yamunanagar, 45 in Mahendergarh, 27 in Charkhi Dadri, 41 in Rewari, 63 in jind, 24 in Panchkula, 50 in Fatehabad, 58 in Rohtak, 40 in Panipat, 35 in Mewat, 72 in Sonipat, 69 in Faridadbad, 71 in Bhiwani, 59 in Karnal, 54 in Gurgaon and 35 candidates are in fray in Palwal district.
