Imphal, May 22 (UNI) Haryana lifted the 12th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship crown defeating Jharkhand 2-0 in the final at Hockey Stadium, Khuman Lampak.on Sunday
Riya and Sejal were the scorers for the winners, who led 1-0 at the highway stage of the grueling contest played under lights.
Riya scored a beautiful goal in the 13th minute while Sejal increased the margin with a spectacular field strike in the 39th minute.
Jharkhand, which entered the final after defeating Uttar Pradesh 2-1, tried to level the score, but squandered many opportunities.
Haryana players started dominating the game from the first minute and exhibited perfect dribbling and long passing skills. Haryana had defeated Madhya Pradesh 8-0 in the semi-final.
Uttar Pradesh won the third spot defeating Madhya Pradesh 3-0.
Manipur Sports Minister K Govindas, Information Minister Dr S Ranjan, Hockey India President Gyanendro Ningombam presented the trophies to the winners. UNI NS SSP
