Haryana invites applications under State Awards for Welfare of Senior Citizens scheme

Chandigarh, Aug 27 (UNI) Haryana government has invited applications from individuals and institutions under its ‘State Awards for the Welfare of Senior Citizens’ scheme for 2016-17.
Stating this here today, a Social Justice and Empowerment department spokesman said that the scheme was being implemented to encourage and honour persons of the age 60 years and above, apart from panchayats, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), old age homes, day care centres, painters, sculptors, musicians and sportspersons who have done pioneering work for the welfare of older persons.
He said that the cash awards, range from Rs 20,000 to Rs one lakh, would be given away in eleven different categories. The applications may be submitted along with details or evidence of achievement to the District Social Welfare Office concerned on or before September 2. A person who has received an award in the last three years would not be eligible for re-nomination for the award.
